can anybody else not get on? I go to the site and it goes to the sign in page but its just a blank screen. Its so annoying. I'm expecting an email from Lexmark about re-installing my scanner.

I really didn't appreciate the tools that I had accumulated over the years on my computer. It took me ages to set it all up again. Little things like a flash plugin, java and winrar had not even crossed my mind. As of right now I've got DVD burning software downloaded, limewire and photoshop CS3 now! i can't figure how CS3 is different than CS2 though.

Vista was pre-installed. It sucks! I'm not kidding, it seems the more aethetically pleasing Microsoft get the less useful it is. When it gets held up because I'm overloading the CPU (by doing too much at once) it won't recover. I have to restart the whole system which never happened on XP. I can't delete anything without the system double checking with me for permission. I've always supported windows basically because the Mac desktop layout and basic functions don't agree with me but microsoft need to cut down on the unnecessary crap. They need to strike a balance between beginners and experienced users. Optional support should be the way to go rather than a one for all policy.

I still have to install imageready and my printer. One great thing is my inbuilt wireless connection. No more fiddling about with my USB driver and worrying I may knock it out. No more worrying that the deviced will have crashed because I put the laptop in hibernation. I log on and the internet is straight there.

So tired...need to sleep.

my old computer finally gave up so I'm on a brand new one. I was proping up the charging jack with cellotape last night! So I have a new HP computer. I'm most disappointed about the lack of nero to make DVDs and CDs but no more sound static and no more overheating worries. So I'm off to put Photoshop and limewire on. (probably not in that order)

Next Doctor Who episode- speculation

I remember there was apparently a scene cut when David first became the doctor where he explains to Rose that his regeneration was based on her. I heard there was something of a line such as 'like a chicken to an egg' (my memory is fuzzy). So now we have the doctor's daughter who looks like the offspring of Rose and the Doctor but we now know that its not through 'traditional' means. If the doctor reproduced a girl through this body using a reproduction machine it would stand to reason she would bear a resemblance to Rose because that is who the doctor's form is based on. This may be touched on in the episode hence the guy who read the Sunday Herald implying Rose was somehow involved. (or he could have been mistaken).

I was warming up the photoshop (I'm not kidding i need to warm up otherwise my stuff comes out really really bad) and did a manip of Supergirl and Brainiac 5

If anyone has this Jason Dohring pic I maniped in high quality (wallpaper size) please link me!

Dohring is the perfect Brainiac 5 but its a shame that DC comics will never make that movie. I never understood why DC was determined to make his younger and younger over the years.

My favourite Brainy is from Justice league unlimited even if his skin looks cyan more than green. Why they rebooted instead of just doing the Legion cartoon in this style is beyond me!

I'm a kara/brainiac 5 shipper! woot! Depressingly kara left the legion recently without any real interaction with Brainiac. It seems unnatural.

Has anyone read Hamlet?

I've got an exam on it in a couple of weeks and I only feel as of now I'm ready to discuss it. I had two seminars about it last term but I was totally in a rush doing everything and now I've got it clear in my mind there is no one to discuss it with. I have people I know from my classes but I only see each of them something like 3 hours a week so its not really an out of uni relationship. My seminars consisted of talking about the play for 2 hours and the second was watching the Ethan Hawke film who talked way to fast.

So questions I have-
What was the point of Ophelia?
Am I meant to be imagining Bill Murray as Polonius?
What does it say about our culture if the most remembered phrase in western literature is about suicide?
Hamlet says that he abhors seeming and performance like wearing black in mourning rather than just feeling how you feel but then goes on to lie. Surely lying is a performance?
Why do I dislike Hamlet so much? He is a pretentious arse.
Polonius's death has some of Shakespeare's worst writing ever! When did the line of 'Oh, I am slain' read well for him? Also there are massive leaps. Hamlet goes from telling his mother that he wishes he had a mirror that could show her her evil deeds to her reply of are you going to kill me? An actor would have to beef up that exchange beyond the page for the woman to have that reaction.
Did EVERYONE have to die? Its just odd that Ophelia dies for no reason, Guildenstern and Rosencrantz die for no reason, Gertrude dies for nothing and Laertes dies for nothing. Its a tragedy, yes but tragedy doesn't mean you kill your entire cast in a Lady Macbeth type way!

Sorry if you have put in a request and have yet to get them back. Real life and a half dead computer has meant that i couldn't get to do much this week and a drunken grandpa would mean i can't get much done tonight.

One ray of light is that I have tara icons for mica_chan and they will be posted in my next icon post. I'm trying to keep up with my doctor who icons but you'll notice I've done none animated as of yet (they take forever especially if i want to do them well)

Prince Caspian Icon Tutorial

made using Photoshop CS2.

1. Duplicate layer and set it to screen 100%
2. repeat step one
3. Duplicate and set to soft light 73%
4 Selective Colour Layer to add some colour
REDS -22,0,0,0
YELLOWS -36,0,+46,0
NEUTRALS- -21,0, +23,0
5.Flatten your image

6. Duplicate your new base and set it to screen 59%. Sharpen this layer by going to filter>sharpen>sharpen
7 Duplicate your base again and set it to soft light 29% (this adds more contrast to your image so more colour can be picked up) Blur this layer to get a soft effect by going to filter>blur>gaussian blur and set the bar to 2.0
8.Create a hue/saturation layer to beef the colours up
MASTER- +9
GREENS - +12
CYANS- +26
BLUES- +21
MAGENTAS- +58
9 Now we have bigger and better colours we create a new selective colour layer to tweak them
REDS -21,0, +14,0
YELLOWS +23,0,+39,0
GREENS, +100,0,0,0
CYANS, +100,0,-62,0
BLUES +99,0,+14,0
WHITES 0,0,0,-24
BLACKS, 0,0,0, +9
10 flatten your image again

11 Duplicate your new base and set it to screen 9%. Use the Gaussian blur tool again at 2.0 on this layer.
12. If your icon is too blurred at this point go to your base and use the sharpen tool on your tool bar to sharpen certain areas like facial features.
