Rose in Human Nature

  • May. 26th, 2007 at 8:16 PM
10 rose
spoilers

Rose was seen drawn in his dream diary along with previous doctor and did i also hear hints of rose's theme when he is with joan?

He lingers over the picture as joan says he has quite the eye for a pretty lady before he says she is in his imagination and she's called Rose much to martha's annoyance. Will this lead to something about Rose pulling him out of john Smith? Why were there no other companions? just monsters and his previous incarnations and rose

EDIT- to add to the sadness i just rewatched the journal scene and he mumbles - she seems to disappear later on- could this episode be any more shippy? i also noticed the writing on the page 'i know i i know her she is a_______. In my dream I keep asking a girl where to find _______ and she is dressed in the most
unmodest  way. She will not answer me and she keeps walking away. In my dream she keeps walking away. I see her in my dreams. GONE'

Can anyone deciper the other words in the gaps?

I heard that, too (Rose's theme), but thought I was imagining things.

Rose pulling him out of john Smith I had a moment of this, too. I was thinking, the kid looking at all the stuff coming out of the watch, sooner or later he'll see her. And if what's keeping him human is being in love... who better to remind him of real passion than the one?

Yes, there was hints of rose's theme - To my mind ths can be analysed two ways

a) Rose's theme is being used in the Doctor/Joan scenes because although it was named by MG as Rose's theme, it is in fact and functions as the generic 'love theme'of Doctor Who. There was, after all, lots of re-used music in there, for example the Shakespeare code music. - That being said if Rose's theme and the love theme are one and the same, - is this not an implication that the Doctor and Rose were in love?

b) Rose's theme being used could imply that the Doctor falls in love with Joan because she subconciously reminds him of Rose.

Both options are highly shippy!

Oddly enough that's the impression I got. Either Rose or Reinette; I don't know why but I thought Joan reminded me of Reinette as well as Rose.

just a quick question... the doctor supposedly is in love with rose. the only reason hes not with her is because she'll wther and die and he'll be left alone. and also he ahs mentioned before how he wants a simple life. yet he has a wacking great big machine, designed to trun him human, and he never used it so he could stay with rose? ceeeeerazy

and yes i noticed the theme, and yes i also noticed how much like rose the matron was. not just appearance, but in character. also glad he didnt end up with martha (mwa ha ha. though i am slightly concerned by next weeks trailor (spoiler for trailor coming up by the way...) he got married and had a kid... so what happened? martha just sat around for 10 years whilst this all went on and he walked the slow path?!

That's exactly what I thought! All that sob-story in episode 3 last series, about how humans wither, well, if he was really so bothered, why didn't he do something about it? He could have become human for her, or she could have become TimeLord, and then he wouldn't be the last and they could be together ever. *drifts off into fangirlish, never-gonna-happen dreams*

Anyway. Next week's clips of the Doctor in paternal bliss? I expect he's just going to be offered a choice between realities - i.e. stay human and have the life with Joan, or return to Timelord...ship, and travel with Martha!

And he's gonna do Martha. Cos he has to, and Doctor Who wouldn't be much if the most exciting thing in the Doctor's day became his next nappy change.

well the doctor loves being a time lord. He loves the adventure to sacrifice that is something huge

I'm guessing thats the future he could have - and he sees it perhaps in the same way the boy (I've forgotten his name)saw a flash of WW1 when he looked into the watch. - Thats probably going to be just before he has to make the decision to change back into the doctor - thus sacrificing his happiness for the good of humanity.

I'm guessing it has to be the 'what could have been' - cause we all know that obviously he is the Doctor again by the next episode.

Unless somehow ( by some quirk of time travel) he does get to stay human long enough to get married and have a family - before he changes back into the doctor - in which case he has to leave his young family?! - thats heartbreaking so I hope this is not the case!

- although it would explain the 'you are not alone' comment - as he would have children out there in the universe, but they would not have any timelord/ Gallifreyan DNA in them so at the same time he would remain the last of his kind.

On a side note -How cute did David Tennant look cradelling the baby?! and walking arm in arm with Joan - It was adorable! - awww, I think I'm in love *sigh*

One answer to your question is...
...this is not actually HIM, is it? Rose loved HIM. Not some human amnesia victim. He would be taking an awful risk, throwing away the man she loved on the off chance they would fall in love again. I mean, seriously...would you want your beloved to be with you if only he would forget all that he was? Rose would have protested very loudly, I think.

Also, the reason he and Rose aren't together...is because she was taken from him, not because he was afraid of her withering away. He'd already faced her withering and dying in GitF and in School Reunion where it comes up. He says, "You can spend the rest of your life with me." <<--meaning I will find the strength to do watch you die. And he's not going to leave her behind...ever...but he tells her to imagine what it will be like for him to watch her die...and go on...he will have to deal with losing her one day...she will, he believes at that time, never have to deal with losing him.

Sadly, he was mistaken and they are both in pain. And here...we see the loss spelled out.

As for the marriage...I think it will be interesting...but it hardly matters...all of this...is the dream-life...his real life will come back to him...and in it...he loves Rose, still.

Agree with what [info]4onbod said.

I just like to add that Rose likes the adventure and danger as much as the Doctor. He could turn human and settle but INMHO Rose wouldn't want that right now. Sure, when she was older but I think she was happy just travelling.

*and no I'm not forgetting about the mortgage talk* - I think it was a desperate times call for desperate measures situation. She had no other choice but to settle.

What I can decipher from that is,

"...she is dressed in the most unmodest way."

"she keeps walking away."

"GONE."

"see her in my dreams." (this one looks like it's repeated.)

"well i know i know her."

"she will not a(pproach?) me, keeps walking away."

This is so interesting, though, can't wait to finally see it. :]

'will not approach me'

thats interesting i thought that too... but its odd, cause we always thought that the doctor kept himself at armd legnth from rose, not that she kept herself from him.

I know it's cheesy but I nearly cried when I saw the painting of Rose. I mean he painted her! Gosh, and I also heared hints of the Rose Theme.
Martha did good in the Episode... I really liked her in it (not to mention the "He doesn't fall in love with me" - scene)

Ahh... can't wait to see the next episode xD he's having a baby :D

Lord, martha's 'he doesn't fall in love with me' scene was just *sniffles* He just... is so oblivious toher and he's unintentionally a douchebag to her. Someone needs to smack him upside the head with a frying pan and get him to at least treat martha with some compassion. Or I need to start a Society Against Cruelty to Martha

Also there’s something extraordinarily romantic about drawing someone. And especially drawing them well, capturing their expression. It takes a certain amount of understanding. Of knowing.
Not to mention the detail that you have to look at a face in to be able to draw it like that -And note that he concentrates on her face. When I want to remember a face, I always draw it. And to draw a face from memory -well, I can’t. Not like that anyway.
I’d also point out that I didn’t spot any pictures of Martha or Reinette.

i noticed that too. the droids but not rienette. It looks like the most important things in the doctor's life- page one the tardis, his different incarnations, the monsters and rose.

there was a reference to rienette 'theres a girl in every fireplace' which is sort of a dig i think. Like she's common and nothing special and he replies saying 'he is hardly that sort if man.'which is apt considering how many of us questioned his behaviour in that episode anyway:p

I have to say though him drawing joan reminded me of titanic but it was far less sickly in this.

The first blank: "she is my" and then on the other side of her head: "Girl".

Well, that's what I saw, anyway. :P Maybe I'm biased...

OMG! Even thought I haven't seen this episode yet, I couldn't keep away when I saw on T&C that there were mentions of Rose!

Eeep!!!!!!!

My life is fulfilled.

What a wonderful way for her to be remembered and I can't believe RTD is going to include such a shippy episode. I love him. :P

Something occured to me last night whilst I was about to fall asleep. John Smith loved Joan but, if the book is right and we can assume due there being more episodes to go, he doesn't love her as the Doctor. But the Doctor loved Rose whilst being the Doctor and is still facinated by her as John Smith although he doesn't know why. It gave the shipper in me a buzz. But I did feel so sorry for Martha...the Doctor/John Smith is such a fool!! I also felt sorry for her due to the racism too...I liked how they put that in to make it more realistic to the time.
I loved the interaction between the Doctor and Joan and her awareness that there is something more to him than meets the eye. I like Jessica Hynes (Stevenson), she was utterly fab and totally likeable - I'm glad they made her so, it would have been too much pandering to us shippers otherwise!

Is it weird for me to still fancy Harry Lloyd as Jeremy Bains even though he was thoroughly horrible!! I love him though!

I agree with all you've said. I thought joan would be more likable- all her talk of martha's place didn't sit well with me. Its a contrast with the girl in the fireplace where i thought rienette was a total bitch. Hopefully this will dispel the notion in some people that doctor/rose fans just hate anyone that isn't rose going near him :D

And harry lloyd- Hottie!

Thus far, this series has reenforced time after time the Doctor and Rose's relationship. And this little shot of Rose and the writing around it is totally heartbreaking in some many ways. It is beautiful and completely proves his love for the girl.

I remember talking to my OH a few weeks back, because I have a ear for music and in TV and Film, music scores are repeated over again to reenforce an idea, and I was wondering if Rose's Theme would reappear again. And I was right.

I'm wondering if Martha will use Rose to spark the Doctor's memory. It will be amazing if she does and it works.

Anyway, cheers for the lovely post, I specifically came over to your journal to see if you had gotten around to commenting on it - as I knew you would :)
